There are a number of ways you can pay your 2022-23 rates.

See our direct debit page for more information about the benefits of setting up a direct debit.

Debit Card or Credit Card payments (using Mastercard or Visa) can be made at one of our offices or can be paid online. A 2% surcharge applies.

Pay direct to our bank account. From your list of bank’s pre-loaded payees list, select Bay of Plenty Regional Council. You can also manually set up Bay of Plenty Regional Council as a payee using the following details:

Account number: 06-0489-0094734-00
Swift code:  ANZBNZ22
ANZ Bank, Whakatāne Branch.

Particulars - Surname and Initials
Code - Property ID
Reference - Valuation Reference (found on the top right-hand corner of your rates invoice)

Payments made after the bank’s processing times are processed the next business day.

At your local NZ Post store (cash or EFTPOS).

At one of our offices (credit card or EFTPOS).

At the Murupara Service Centre of Whakatane District Council.

Please note - automatic payments

We do not offer the option to pay by automatic payment across the year. If the full amount was not paid by 20 October, a penalty will have been charged on 31 October. For this reason we recommend setting up a direct debit as then your payments would be calculated out across the year to 30 June 2023.
