Bay of Plenty Regional Council manages the regional Baybus bus network.

This includes Bayhopper buses in the Western and Eastern Bay, and Cityride buses in Rotorua, as well as many rural services.

The Council's Transport Team makes it easier and safer to get you where you need to be. We can help you to use alternative modes of transport – whether it is catching a bus, biking or walking.

To contact the Transport Team call 0800 884 880 and ask for transport.

Buses and transport

Public transport is a critical component for transporting and contributing to a thriving region and we are committed to delivering this vision for the Bay of Plenty.

Accessible transport

Could you or someone in your household use support getting from A to B? Available services for people who meet the criteria include 100% discount on our buses and 50% discount on door-to-door travel.

Cycling and walking

Cycling and walking are essential transport options for short to medium length utility journeys and fulfil an important demand management role in urban areas.

Increasing travel by active modes has multiple benefits including a healthier population, reduced emissions and more efficient urban transport systems, which in turn support improved productivity and economic outcomes.

The Bay of Plenty region is blessed with a multitude of walking and cycling trails.
