The Bay of Plenty Regional Public Transport Plan is the key statutory document for public transport planning and investment in the region. It guides the design and delivery of public transport services, information and infrastructure in the Bay of Plenty region.

The Plan takes a 10+ year strategic view of public transport with a particular focus on the first three years. In doing so, it describes:

  • What we want our public transport system to achieve (our long-term vision and objectives).
  • How we propose to get there (the strategies, focus areas, policies and actions that will help us achieve our goals).
  • What public transport services we propose to provide.

The operative Bay of Plenty Regional Public Transport Plan (2022) can be accessed below.

Following a submissions process and hearings earlier this year, the Regional Public Transport Plan was adopted by the Regional Transport Committee on 29 September 2022.

The RPTP was developed between July 2021 – September 2022 and has involved tāngata whenua, stakeholders and the community in the process. Information on the development of the RPTP, including the consultation process and submissions made, can be found at Regional Public Transport Plan | Participate BOPRC.
