Live cameras and wave buoy
Our bar cameras are only one of the aids available to skippers to help them make the decision on whether it’s safe to cross a bar.

- Know: Contact your local Coastguard Radio Room at Maketū to find out the status of the bar 027 539 2930 and book onto a Bar Crossing course.
The Kaituna Bar Cam runs off of solar power and can experience intermittent down time.

The Bowentown wave buoy is out of action for up to a week, due its annual maintenance. During this time, live data will not be available.
We will remove this advisory notice once the buoy has been reinstated.
Please exercise caution during this time and refer to other weather and marine forecasting services for current conditions.
