Request confidentiality

Complete this form to withhold your name and/or postal address information from the Rating Information Database (RID).

The Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 requires local authorities to give public access to its RID.

You can view the RID online or at one of our offices. The online RID does not include the names and postal addresses of owner(s)/ratepayer(s).

The complete RID available for viewing at our offices must contain key information for each rating unit, (i.e. the property you receive a rates invoice for), within the Bay of Plenty region includes:

  • The name of the owner(s) of the rating unit; and
  • The postal address of the owner(s) of the rating unit

Each owner individually has the right under the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002 to make a request (which must be in writing or by completing this form) that their name and/or postal address be withheld from the public RID.

If you wish to revoke a request to withhold your name and/or address from the complete RID, you may do so by written notice to Bay of Plenty Regional Council, PO Box 364, Whakatane 3158, or by contacting us.

Note: Please inform your local City/District Council if you would like your name and/or postal address withheld from your local City/District Council's rating information database.

If you have any further queries, please contact us or phone 0800 BOP RATES (0800 267 728).
