Resource consent application number RM18-0434 (BOPRC) and RC26572 (TCC): Mauao Trust and Tauranga City Council

26 October 2018

Mauao Trust and Tauranga City Council (Parks and Recreation Department) have applied to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Tauranga City Council for various resource consents that are required to reinstate part of the base track of Mauao, which failed in a storm in April 2017. A new section of track is proposed in order to avoid the slip-prone section of existing track and reestablish universal access to the base track. The new section of track will be 360 m long, and will include a 60 m section of formed track on the beach terrace, a 190 m rock revetment on the beach next to the toe of the slope (Te Kawa Point) and a 110 m long boardwalk traversing the slope above the boulder field, located partially along the alignment of the existing beach access track.
