Interested residents are invited to call into the Rangitāiki Cosmopolitan Club this Saturday (4 August) to catch up on a range of projects underway by the Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

Paula Chapman, the Council’s Flood Recovery Manager, says the information day for the lower Rangitāiki follows a similar event held recently in Galatea.

“Council has a number of projects that naturally people are interested in, so it makes sense to bring our staff together in one place where members of the community can pop in for a cuppa and a chat.

Staff will be available from 9.30 – 1pm and we’ll have a series of rolling presentations from 10.30 – noon.

Topics covered will include an update on the flood repairs on multiple sites along the river, including the College Road stopbank construction and road realignment. The engineering team will share information as part of its ongoing public consultation on the Rangitāiki Floodway Project and we’ll also be reporting on progress against the recommendations in the Rangitāiki River Scheme Review. In addition, our water policy and land management teams will present about topics of interest and impact on the Lower Rangitaiki environment and community.”
