16 September 2016

This year’s Car-Free Day falls on Thursday 22 September and will see people all over the world encouraged to do without their vehicles for 24 hours in favour of cycling, walking and public transport. We're celebrating this event in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane and encouraging everyone to take the bus on World Car-Free Day.

Be in to win an iPad Air

Just travel by bus then put your name and phone number on the back of your ticket and pop your ticket into one of the green buckets with one of our team.  Do this between 7:30am and 9:00am on the day at one of the following locations and be in to win - it's that easy!

  • Willow Street, Tauranga;
  • Arawa Street, Rotorua; or
  • Quay Street, Whakatane.

Taking the bus means that you can send all the texts you like, make phone calls or read while you’re travelling.  You don’t have to worry about the hassle of trying to find a parking space and bus travel can also be quite social, allowing you to meet other people in your local community.

Whether it’s a one-way or return trip or your five day a week commute, going car-free is a realistic option for most people. Walk, cycle, bus, formally car-pool with others, or just catch a ride with your husband/wife/neighbour/friend going the same way. Every car-free trip helps.

Take the heat off our planet and do your bit by taking the bus for the day.
