Submissions on this resource consent application have now closed.

Fonterra Limited have applied to the Bay of Plenty Regional Council to change the conditions of resource consent 65800 under section 127 of the Resource Management Act. The application (CH16-00294) seeks to change consent conditions allowing medium strength wastewater (MSW) to be discharged to additional land within the Rangitāiki Plains subject to landowner approval.

Resource Consent 65800 was originally granted (27 May 2010) to discharge dairy manufacturing wastewater (including MSW) from the Edgecumbe Fonterra Dairy Manufacturing site to farm-land throughout the Rangitaiki Plains, identified on schedule 1 of resource consent 65800. Pacific Avocado Limited: Resource Consent Application Number RM16-0037

Pacific Avocado has applied for resource consent to take and use groundwater for horticultural irrigation and frost protection at 169a MacDonald Road, Whakatane.

The purpose of the water take is to provide water for irrigation and frost protection of an 8.1 hectare (ha) avocado orchard. The applicant also seeks allocation for undertaking 5 maintenance checks per year and for domestic use in the properties dwelling.

The applicant proposes to take a total of 2187 cubic meters of water per week for irrigation and 1064 cubic meters of water for frost protection. Water will be taken at a maximum rate of 21.1 litres per second for both activities.

Please note that this is an application to replace consent number RC 65708 which expires on 31 March 2019. However, this consent allows for a lower maximum rate of take for irrigation than is now being applied for so is not replacing consent RC 65708 in a "like for like" manner.
