Proposed plantation forestry standards – implications for FOAS

The Ministry of Primary Industries is currently developing a National Environmental Standard for Plantation Forestry (NES - PF). It is anticipated that this standard will come into effect mid to late 2017. If implemented, the NES-PF would replace Council’s existing regional plan rules for managing plantation forestry. This clearly has implications for the Forestry Operators Accreditation System.

Therefore,Council will not be accepting applications for accreditation until the NES – PF is in place and continued operation of the FOAS under this new legislation has been assessed and confirmed.

Further information on the development of the NES-PF can be found on the MPI website
