Travel for free in Tauranga this Easter weekend
Monday, 14 April 2014 2:00 p.m.
There’s a cheap and easy way to get around Tauranga this Easter Saturday and Sunday – by bus and for free!
Bay of Plenty Regional Council is not charging passengers using the Bayhopper Tauranga Bus network on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 April – all to make it easier to get around during the holiday weekend. In addition, buses will run more often on all routes.
Public Transport Subcommittee Chair Lyall Thurston said the idea behind the free weekend was to provide a no fuss way for people to enjoy the city.
“Easter Weekend is always a big weekend in Tauranga, with a number of events on for people to attend and enjoy,” Mr Thurston said. “And now people can get to where they want to go without the bother of thinking about parking or the traffic.”
Bayhopper buses will not run on Good Friday, and will operate to the Public Holiday timetable on Easter Monday.
