Final election results declared for Bay of Plenty Regional Council

The final results of the local government elections for Bay of Plenty Regional Council have now been declared.

“Congratulations to the newly elected and re-elected Councillors,” said Regional Council Chief Executive Mary-Anne Macleod. 

“With a mix of new faces and experienced hands around the table, we’re looking forward to plenty of action and energy over the next three years,” Ms MacLeod said.

Successful candidates, with number of voters in brackets, are:

Eastern Bay of Plenty General: Douglas Leeder (6028) and Colin Holmes (5092) elected.

Rotorua General: Lyall Thurston (9172) and Neil Oppatt (8118)

Tauranga General: Paula Thompson (18,522), John Cronin (14,838), David Love (13,567), Philip Sherry (13,259) and Douglas Owens (10,510)

Western Bay of Plenty General: Jane Nees (6544) and Norm Bruning (4894)

Kohi Maori: Tiipene Perenara Marr (1071)

Mauao Maori: Awanui Black (604)

Okurei Maori: Arapata Tahana (1129)
