Want to protect and enhance the natural or historic character of
an important area? Bay of Plenty Regional Council's Environmental
Enhancement Fund is open for applications!
The Environmental Enhancement Fund supports community groups to protect and enhance the natural or historic character of an important area. A grant may also help the group promote public access and understanding. Applications for up to $30,000 dollars funding are open until 4.30pm 15 April 2011. Applications for under $5,000 are open all year round. Please contact us for assistance with your application.
Also launching this month is He Matapuna Akoranga a Hawea Vercoe - The Hawea Vercoe Commemoration Fund which has up to $20,000 funding available to help Kura Kaupapa Maori, Kohanga Reo and bi-lingual schools in the region with enviornmental projects. These grants are being funded through the Environmental Enhancement Fund, which is an existing community grant scheme.
Schools will be able to apply for up to $5,000 for any one project, but are limited to one project per year through this funding scheme.
This fund is in honour of the late Bay of Plenty Regional Councillor Hawea Vercoe. Hawea was the Principal of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Rotoiti. He was particularly passionate about Maori education and the environment. It is therefore fitting that this initiative will help fund projects that have a positive impact on environmental values and culture.
