In the Bay of Plenty, there are seven different district and city councils we work with: Tauranga City, Western Bay of Plenty District, Rotorua Lakes, Whakatāne District, Kawerau District, Ōpōtiki District and Taupō District.
We work with these councils in many different ways and in many different areas. Their role is to focus on services for the communities within their own areas like:
- Water supply.
- Road maintenance.
- Land-use and subdivisions.
- Services like libraries and swimming pools.
- Rubbish collection.
- Building consents.
- Dog control.
Rates collection and administration
General rates are used to fund our work that benefits the whole region. The seven district councils in the Bay of Plenty collect and administer most rates on behalf of the Council.
Please contact your district or city council if you need information about:
- Payment of your rates.
- Payment options.
- Due dates and penalty dates.
- Remission and postponement policies specific to your council.
- Inspection and objection of rating information and records.
The 2016 - 2019 Triennial Agreement describes how councils in the Bay of Plenty will work together.
