Annual Plans are prepared in the years between each Long Term Plan. These plans set out what we propose to do that year, how much it will cost and how we will fund it.

Once the Long Term Plan is in place, the Annual Plan process continues, but the focus is on year-to year budgets. The Annual Plans produced in the intervening years support the Long Term Plan, and their primary purpose is to provide the base for setting and assessing rates.

Draft Annual Plan 2019/20

Thank you to everyone who has submitted on our Annual Plan 2019/20. We received 317 submissions and had more than 600 speak to councillors at our community and Have Your Say events. Council are meeting on 13 June 2019 to consider submissions and deliberate on the issues. Council will adopt the Annual Plan 2019/20 on 27 June 2019.

Our Annual Plan 2019/20 consultation document presents the proposed budget for the second year of our Long Term Plan 2018-2028, updated to include any changes from what was set out in our plan.

Important parts of the annual plan that we are seeking feedback on are:

  • Climate change – where should our focus be when it comes to action on climate change
  • Safety and rescue services – how should we support charities that provide regional safety and rescue services
  • Passenger transport – a proposal to trial improved tertiary and commuter bus services funded through targeted rates; and a proposal to trial fare-free bus services for school students in Tauranga to help relieve traffic congestion, replacing fare revenue with targeted rates.
