Lake Rotorua Nutrient Reduction Fund

Clean Farms, Clean Lakes, Good Clean Funds

A new $750,000 nutrient reduction fund is available for Rotorua landowners.* It's for taking action on your farm to improve your land and reduce nutrients to Lake Rotorua.

An application form will be sent to all landowners who are eligible to apply.

Some ideas to improve land and reduce nutrients to Lake Rotorua could be:

  • Investment in wintering pads or shelters
  • Planting trees (forestry or native)
  • Removal of gorse and planting trees (forestry or native)
  • Changing stocking rates
  • Changing stock types

Applications must be received by Tuesday 31 May 2011.

* All landowners in the Rotorua surface water catchment (Maori or fee simple title) who have an approved Bay of Plenty Regional Council "Rule 11" nutrient benchmark are eligible to apply for funding.
