Youth Jam 2012

Youth Jam is an annual event for Bay of Plenty secondary students to foster environmental awareness, youth leadership and participation in civic issues.  Last year we had over 50 students attend from around the Bay and we are hoping for another group of motivated young people who are willing to step up, represent and take positive action in their region to another level.

Youth Jam 2012 aims to give young people the opportunity to encourage a youth voice in the future growth and opportunities of their local community. Teachers may choose to link Youth Jam activities to Achievement Standard credits in Geography, Social Studies and Education for Sustainability. The knowledge and skills plus tools to voice their opinions gained from this may be used to empower others. A delegation from Youth Jam will be invited to provide feedback to Councillors on the collective youth point of view in late June.
