Travel for free in Rotorua this Easter weekend

Getting around Rotorua this Easter Saturday and Sunday just got easier – with a Smartride card travel for free on all CityRide Rotorua buses this Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 April.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council is dropping the fare for all Smartride card users for the two days, making it a cheap way to enjoy the city during the holiday weekend. Passengers just need to show their cards to the driver when they hop on and their fare will be waived.
Public Transport Subcommittee Chair Lyall Thurston said Smartride cards were a convenient way to use the Rotorua Cityride network, as they eliminated the need for people to carry cash with them when they travelled.
Smartride cards can be purchased from the bus driver and cost $17.20, this includes a $10 credit loaded to your Smartcard. You then just purchase top-ups from the bus driver as you need them,” Mr Thurston said.
“In addition, people using the Smartride cards for their day to day travel are charged at a lower rate than if you’d pay by cash. It’s a great way to save some money.”
Cityride buses will not run on Good Friday or Easter Monday.
