Definitions of Passive Recreation Areas

The definitions of “passive areas” and “passive recreation areas” are contained within Part 3.10 of the current Bylaw.  The definitions can be difficult to find within the document.  The definitions do not reflect what is normally considered to be a passive area.

It is proposed to create two different definitions and relocate these in the definitions section of the Bylaw. This will make it easier to find the definition and understand the Bylaw.

The Draft Bylaw creates two distinct definitions:

  • Passive Recreation Area, which is closer to the more traditional non-motorised activities; and
  • Non-Watersports Area, which reflects an area that is not used for more active watersports like water skiing, using PWC’s or other high impact recreational activities.
