Rotorua Lakes Report Cards

Report Cards are a snapshot of the health of lakes in the Rotorua area.

Te Arawa Lakes Trust, Bay of Plenty Regional Council and Rotorua District Council have been concerned about declining water quality in our lakes for many years. So together we developed a community vision - Strategy for the Lakes of the Rotorua District (2000).

There are no 'easy fix solutions' and changes will not happen overnight. Residents' and lake users' understanding about the issues and the individual measures that we can all take will help reach these long-term goals.

The report cards include background on how each lake was named, its size, physical characteristics and current state, as well as measures being taken to protect or improve water quality.
