Lake Tarawera Action Plan

We are developing the Lake Tarawera Action Plan to reduce the level of nutrients in the lake. This is part of the Rotorua Lakes Protection and Restoration Action Programme being carried out between the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Te Arawa Lakes Trust and Rotorua District Council.
Extensive input was received from the Lake Tarawera Action Plan Working Party during development of a draft Action Plan. Some years ago the entire project was put on hold and the draft Action Plan wasn't completed.
In July 2011 we started to work on the Lake Tarawera Action Plan again. As it's been a few years, some things have changed in the way the Regional Council develops action plans. We've learned some lessons from the action plans that have been developed for other lakes and we're trying to improve on how we do things.
We haven't discarded anything. All the information is still here. But things have probably changed for the community too. So we've organised to come out and talk to you about Lake Tarawera. We want to know what you love about the lake. We also want to talk to you about what your concerns are for Lake Tarawera.
Ways you can get involved include:
- Attend public workshops
- Keep watching our webpage for developments
