CONTROL

Landowners are responsible for controlling many common pests on their own properties. Ask us for help with pest management .

On the farm

In the garden

  • Learn to identify plant and pond pests report any unusual weeds of fish you see to Regional Council.
  • Dispose of greenwaste carefully. Compost it well or take it to an approved disposal facility. Dumping greenwaste over the fence or into your local reserve will only create new weed problems.
  • Find out about which pests you're required to control, as a landowner. Regional Council can help with practical advice and sometimes funding.

On the boat

Freshwater boating:

  • Check, clean and dry your boat, trailer, fishing and watersports equipment before you use it in a different lake or river.

Saltwater boating:

  • Check, clean and antifoul your hull regularly. Find out how.
  • Check your hull and niche areas before you travel somewhere new, every time.
  • Haul out to clean heavy hull fouling.

  • Check, clean and dry your watersports equipment before you use it in a different waterway.
