This resource includes unit plans for junior, middle and senior primary, accompanied with lesson plans, fact sheets, relevant stories and suggested activities. It is available in both the English and Maori languages.

Get ready get through - Put together by New Zealands ministry of civil defence, this site contains heaps of useful information on how to get ready and get through a natural disaster. There are sections with information relevant to NZ's six most common natural disasters, including floods and storms as well as downloadable emergency plans and brochures. Fema Ready Kids - Put out by the U.S. Department of homeland security this resource has a number of fun games, classroom and at home activities that will assist children to be prepared for a disaster or emergency. Also check out the information for teachers and parents for more resources.
Sesame Street - Let's Get Ready! - This is a great resource to use with younger children, with a number of video clips of Sesame Street characters as they investigate how to get ready for an emergency. Covers knowing your name and address as well as emergency kits. Also includes a printable childs workbook.
Weather wiz kids - A website designed especially for kids to allow them to learn more about the fascinating world of weather. It's also a wonderful educational website for teachers and parents to give them the right tools to explain the different types of weather to children.
