Te Maru o Kaituna River Authority is a co-governance partnership mandated to restore, protect and enhance the environmental, cultural and spiritual health and well-being of the Kaituna River.

The purpose of the Authority (as set out in Tapuika Claims Settlement Act 2014) is to restore, protect and enhance the environmental, cultural and spiritual health and well-being of the Kaituna River.
Despite the composition of the Authority as described in section 118, the Authority is a joint committee of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, the Rotorua District Council, the Tauranga City Council, and the Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
